Larry was one of my oldest friends. We attended Avalon Park elementary school and then our families moved into the South Shore district so we could attend SSHS. He certainly was one of the most intelligent people I ever knew.

Larry was in the January graduating class of 1965 where I think he ranked second academically. His first year of college was at the Illinois Institute of Technology and then he transferred to the U of IL Circle Campus and earned a degree in chemistry, although he never pursued a career in that field. After graduation he was drafted into the Army, as some of us were. During basic training he fractured his heel, which eliminated him from potential combat duty in Viet Nam, and he was sent to an Army camp in Louisiana where he finished his two years of duty in a clerical job.

After leaving the Army he began working for American National Bank in downtown Chicago and then for Reliance Insurance and two other insurance companies. After his company was sold he went to Peoria where he became Assistant Vice President with John P. Pearl & Associates until his untimely death in 1991 of a sudden heart attack at the age of 44.

He married twice. Mary was his first wife for 16 years. They had no children and she died of cancer in 1986. At the time of his death he had remarried to his second wife, Jill.

Larry was a great guy, quiet in demeanor and extremely intelligent. I new him casually in class and as a cadet officer in JROTC.He was a fine young man and friend.

Larry was my first cousin.  His dad, my uncle Dave, was a hard-working, down-to-earth, kind man. Because he and my dad were the closest among their siblings, I got to spend a lot of time with Larry and his younger brother, Joel. Larry was a dear, thoughtful man who, along with his brother, dad, and mom (Lillian) is woven into my personal history as cherished family -- delightful people who added a lot to my and others' world. Uncle Dave, along with several of my other uncles, was a WWII infantryman, spared by the war to come home again and build a beautiful life. I treasure them all.
