So very sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing. Not only went to South Shore with him but attended Beth Am Sunday school together as well. Saw him at our 10th reunion. Such a super nice guy, always a gentleman. What a shame he had to deal with ALS the last years. Heartfelt condoences to his brothers, kids and family members on his loss.
Jimmy's passing will be mourned by many. I am sad more than I can imagine. After SSHS we became pledge brothers in a fraternity at the Uof I. Our bond was surviving a year of hell together under absurd conditions. At a 50th reunion of our pledge class we could finally laugh about it. I was glad that Jimmy had found Veronica and they shared a wonderful loving relationship together. Jimmy was just starting life again and then it was over.
My heart goes out to all those that had the experience of Jimmy Schlifke touching their lives. He was a good person who enjoyed the many blessings of life. Although I was not close to Jimmy my encounters were always pleasant. The only blessing I could have wished for him were more Birthdays to celebrate. Farewell sweet Jimmy. Peggy Brunner
